I was wondering about what chews or dental products you use to help clean your puppers teeth (in-between brushings)- that work pretty good ?

I got some bone from petsmart in a christmas bag for the dogs...but it didn't have any type of labeling. It was in a little gift bag from the girl scouts. It really cleaned up the tartar and freshened Gunner's breath. I haven't been able to find it yet, but it looked like a small darker colored rawhide bone. If I find it or figure out what it is..i'll let you know.

I brush every so often with chicken flavored paste but also give them those LARGE rawhide bones from Wal Mart (big enough where they can't just swallow it and have to actually chew) or the green denta bone thingies. Pretty much anything that takes awhile for them to chew on. Which isn't much. Smile

I hear ya there. Gunner goes through the rawhides in no time. Bella has gotten where she will steal the ones that Gunner has chewed apart b/c she hasn't gotten big enough yet to chew through them in five seconds. I haven't done the brushing either, but I think in Feb I'm going to have Gunner's teeth cleaned. Bella's are in good shape still, but they're all the brand new adult teeth. I think Feb is our month for spaying too. I need to talk with the vet. The last one I went to suggested after the first heat, but I'd rather not wait until then if I can do it earlier without too many negative consequences.

We do give pig ears (it's a fav. around here lol). Also give busy bones- none last longer then 10 mins. Raw hides are another treat. lol, we brush ours with liver flavor and Daisy makes the funniest face haha, you can tell she's saying "YUK" lol. Nah, we won't use greenies, just not to fond of them. Anyone use any of the liquid breath freshner you can add to their drinking water ? how about Yip-Yaps ?

hahahah That's funny. I make faces with those things too! I thought about trying the stuff you pour in the water. I'll have to read more about it. Gunner could use some breath freshner.

LOL, same here, they are strong ! Yeah, white teeth don't = fresh breath.. A few of ours can knock you down when they try to kiss ya' lol. Chews help their teeth, but nothing seems to help their teeth and breath. We'll try the liquid and see how that goes. How about the mint flavored hide chips ?

Yip-Yaps are doggie breath mints. They came out a few years ago, suppose to be good but I've not met a person who has used them.

I havent even seen them. I bought some thing today...they looked like a spirally bone with some kind of chips in them. Supposed to be for teeth and breath. I guess they liked them b/c they were gone in five mins and Gunner stole part of Bella's. I haven't gotten up close to see what their breath is like. I'll have the husband check that out. He loves to kiss them...Me not so much since they also like to eat their own poo. Sad I can't remember the name but I'll check out the package if they seem to work.
