| Well, here's what's been going on the past two days with our youngest Lab Rebel (for those that don't know us/them).
Night before last, early a.m., Rebel knocked the trash can off the top of the counter (where we had been putting it so he couldn't get into it. He had trash all over the floor....the WHOLE kitchen. The bad part is that he managed to get into the three leg/thigh sets of chicken bones that were in there. The thigh pieces I'm not so worried about, but those little pointy one's and the leg bones worry me. That afternoon, when Tony went to the store, he got into a bottle of yard pesticide. It's the kind that is supposed to get rid of fleas, ticks, mosquitos and gnats. You attach it to your water hose and you spray your yard, let it dry, then do what you normally do in your yard. We don't think he got much of the actual liquid, but he did punch some holes in the upper part of the bottle and the spray attachment part. Tony called the Poison Control # and they said he may have a numb tongue (like we'd really know! He drools anyhow) but should be fine. They had a dr. call back and he said as long as he doesn't show any symptoms or act strange in the next 24 hours he'll be o.k. The only real warnings on the label were "keep of skin/clothes" and "do not induce vomiting if ingested". Well, we didn't, he didn't puke, so we followed that rule. He's eaten his regular meals (yesterday morning and this morning, and any treats he's been given as well as drinking pretty regularly.). Tony gave him some milk and bread to help absorb any toxins he may have ingested. No symptoms so far.
BUT...... He hasn't pooped since night before last. Unless he did it and Gunner ate it...I haven't seen any poop in their room, he hasn't gone outside either. He pee's regularly, but no poop. He HAS to be full enough to go, right??? He's usually either early in the a.m. or really late at night when he poops. He has never missed a day or two since I can remember.
What can we give him to make him go before having to go to the vets??? He's acting perfectly normal. Very bouncy at "potty time". Runs around (well, slides cause of the ice) outside and fetches as usual. Still carries his sticks. Everything is the same but minus the bowel movements. |

| Vegi oil will make him have runny stool, If that is what you are looking for. Do this lay him down if possible, Take your finger poke him lightly in the side starting from front working to the back while petting him on the other side., What you are looking for is sudden clinches, a Erregular look from him to the poking finger. Hopefully he will tell you if his belly hurts. Watch for simple bloat, Good luck LML hope he stops scaring you one of these days. Dont worry at times I have one or two that have me at the edge of my seat. _________________ Need A custom Website? Contact me for more info!

| He sounds like a crazy boy! I think they go through spurts of crazidom. Bella has managed to chew both corners of my area rug now...boy does it look nice.
You could try taking him for a nice long walk. Usually if I take my two for a walk they usually do their business when they get back.
I hope he's ok too! |

| I did the looong walk last night along with extra play time. The other two pooped, but Rebel is still holding out on me. I called the vets today. Our old one (the c-section one) said bring him in for a $50-$100 x-ray, there's nothing you can give him. The second one, our new one, said he MAY have passed it without you knowing (in other words, hubby may not have see, lol) OR we can give him canned pumpkin, bread and canned dog food (loads of fiber filled stuff) and give him til Saturday. If he doesn't go by Saturday then we'll need to bring him in. She said he sounds like he's not blocked (no vomiting, lethargy or pain and still eating/playing). She also said if he was blocked he'd be vomiting cause it will come out one end or the other.
So we went to Wal Mart and got 2 cans of pumpkin, 1 can green beans, 1 can carrots, 1 can of mixed veggies and 6 cans of dog food (with peas and beef). The pumpkin has 20% fiber, the others are 8%. If that doesn't get him going....NOTHING will!!! LOL
Here's hoping he poops tonight or in the a.m. |

| Good...I'd tell ya...I wouldn't go back to that other guy again...ever. Sounds like he's not so helpful. I agree with the throwing up thing and he may have gone and no one saw it. He may have even eaten it himself especially if it had left over chicken bones! How gross. |

| Actually he did throw up under the table where the cable box is. I just realized we saw it the same day he'd eaten the bones. There was nothing left of it when we found it. Just a wet, kinda yellowish/brown spot with what looked like some paper (from being in the trash?) and a little black charcoal looking thing (could have been from the chicken?). Well, it could be a good thing...but I wish we could prove he threw up and re-ate it (YUCK).
Well, the can of pumpkin, carrots and mixed veggies are kickin in I do believe. Cause somebody is really gassy!!! Ewww...and smelly! Potty time? Maybe??? |

| | hahahah OMG how funny! Next time I talk to the vet I ask them why didn't they warn you of such a thing first! Well hopefully that will do the trick. He may have just thrown up b/c it wasn't something he normally would have eaten. I think dogs that have a blockage tend to throw up everytime they eat. So if it's only happened one time it probably will be ok. Let us know when the deed happens so we know he's ok. |

| HE POOPED!!! HE POOPED!!! HE POOPED!!!
We went outside for about 15 minutes. Running all 3 around the back yard in the snow/ice and playing with sticks. He circled once, but was looking for another stick. When I took him back to his normal spot again, he FINALLY squatted and pooped! It looked hard and firm, no bones and no blood. Seems like he either digested, or vomited up and reate partially digested bones. Everything is A-O.K. now. It took til the 3rd night for him to go, but I'm thinking he was more constipated than anything and the fiber boost he got helped.
I kind of felt bad for Tira though. She got a little extra fiber (not NEAR what Rebel got) and her stool was a bit softer than usual. Poor girl. She's got a sensitive stomach some days. Gunner is normal as usual.
Thank GOD this last "Rebel on a Rampage" episode is done!!! |
