| Geez! I'd like to lose about 30 lbs. You sound like my hubby James. He wants to lose the excess fat and gain the weight back in muscle. He was 265 before and was lifting 400 lbs. Now he's about 275ish and only lifting about 300 because he's been out of it for so long. It finally hit him last night that the smoking HAS to stop, he NEEDS to eat/live healthier and move around more *without cigs*. Heck, I even got some Slim Fast to show I was behind him in all this and wanted to lose weight too. So far he's doing really good. We stayed busy all day and we even played some basketball at the park! Of course, we came home to a small mess by the pups in their room (our fault, we got in to big of a hurry and forgot to put down pads :0 ) and he ALMOST smoked a little cigar...but I talked him out of it and now he's watching MASH. |

| I think people will just have to find other methods of getting around. Maybe not a horse but doing things like carpooling and bus riding. The bus here into downtown Houston has seen a huge increase in riders...like 16% this April from the previous April. That's a huge increase. And when people were interviewed about why they ride...it was why spend 40 bux a week to drive myself when I can spend 10 on the bus. Those kind of things and walking to and from when possible will eventually be the way I think. Other countries who pay 5-6 a gallon do it. Why should we be any different?
As far as weight is concerned...we sure are gaining around here. We've been eating out soo much in the past two months b/c of the whole baby thing. I just don't have the energy to cook and clean and its so easy to run over to a few of the little restaurants near us. Not cheap but easy. OOOh last night we had some of the best food since we got to Houston at this Texas Roadhouse...ribs/steak/BBQ place. That's the problem with this city...there are soo many good places to eat. We'll never lose any living here. LOL. |

| We actually have people going to doctor appointments on horseback here abouts. A couple of them were on the news on television last night. Hey, whatever works, right?
My husband has been talking about gettin a motorcycle to ride to work. The climate is good for them here, most of the year. I don't worry about his ability to handle one but I do worry about the inability of some of the local Yaahoos not seeing him or just driving carelessly. So far, no bike ... but it could be coming! _________________ Breeder & Co-Owner: Champion Downhome Family Tradition -- The Top-Winning Harrier in Breed History 2008 Harrier Club of America National Specialty Winner

| James - My husband starting going grey in his early 20's as well as going bald. Poor guy! He shaves his head now - I guess it's his way of denying the loss of color and hair. Losing weight is hard, especially when you try to quit smoking. There ya go James!!! Quit smoking then you'll gain some weight! As for gas prices - it's $3.75 today for RUL. We're having to get 1/2 a tank on one paycheck then the other 1/2 when another pay period starts. I've seen people spend $100 and still only have a 1/2 tank. Drive offs were bad so we went to 1/2 the pumps being prepay but now people are writing bad checks and not sticking around long enough for them to be run through Telecheck. |

| My husband considered the motorcycle thing b/c he has a pretty good commute that's typically bumper to bumper most of the way. He was really, really close to buying one when a guy that works at their plant had a really bad accident. Someone else creamed him and he ended up in the hospital for months. So after that, not only did I say he couldn't get one, but his boss said he shouldn't get one. That helped my case. I agree with the fact that others are usually the ones to cause the accidents and unfortunately, with a MC you have no protection against the impace with the other veh or with the ground. I worked for an auto ins company for 5 years and every single MC accident I handled had an injury of some sort. So regardless of the savings...I'm against my husband getting one. I'd rather slow my driving down to increase my MPG. If you reduce your speed to 60 or less you increase your MPG's pretty significantly. The half tank thing bugs me too! I have a hard time finding stations where I can actually get a full tank. The tank always stops at 75 or 1oo even when I pay with a debit card. I don't know why they cant run until it's full since they have my card number and such. It's not like I'm not going to pay. But I can see how drive offs will get worse. We had a whole semi truck full of diesel hi-jacked here. I don't think they ever found who did that. Atleast the driver was let go. |
