Have any of you all found any really great shampoos for your dogs? Gunner's hair is so thick...sometimes I think that the shampoo just sits on top and doesn't even get into the hair. It's even worse if I use a cheaper brand. I've used Pure Joy (I think that's the name) and it seems to really be soapy and conditioning. Just wondered if any of you all have any better suggestions for the really tough Lab hair.

(I washed the dogs today...boy was that fun.)

I found a brand at Petco that seems to work really well. I'll have to go down stairs to see what it's called, but it's a natural formula that eases the skin . It worked wonders for our previous fosters coat/skin. Her former owners didn't really pay any attention to what they used I'm guessing because when she came to us, she had a bad coat, dull with bald spots. Changed her food and bathed her with the shampoo for skin, and within a week we noticed a change for the better. And I know how you feel about that thick coat. Massaging during baths helps work in the shampoo too.

Yeah you would think Gunner was a Husky or something...his fur is so thick. When I give him a bath...It really takes him pretty much the entire day to dry off....Whereas Bella is drying within 2 hours or so. Maybe that's why Gunner prefers to go without the bath. LOL! But boy does he stink up the place if I don't wash them as often as I should.

Does anyone know about ORVUS?? We used this at our FFA teachers house on her sheep. It's an amazing shampoo that makes the thoughest thickest coat soft. You can use it virtually on anything even quilt cleaning! Its a very gentle shampoo and is non-irritating. I worked at a Horse/Tack store and it was also used by people on Dogs. They swore by it. Any thoughts? Wink

I haven't heard of it but I'll have to check it out. If it works on sheep it surely can work on my old fur ball Gunner. Smile Anything to make bath day easier....I got to scrub in the shampoo...dry them off...have them shake water all over me...clip nails, clean ears (they hate that) and do heartworm and flea meds. Gunner can't stand the flea med either. As soon as I bring out the package he's hiding under the table.

Yeah, I hate that gunk! Maybe it would work on the kids too, after a day in the yard... lol
