| Just wanted to update you guys. I haven't been around in awhile. I went to my doc's appt on Monday morning and was sent right over to the hospital. Well they kept me there until Friday which sucked but the good thing is our little girl is finally here. I had a baby girl on June 18. Her name is Elaine Johanna, aka Lainey. Unfortunately, they let me out on good behaivor but Lainey is still in the hospital. She was born early just turning 36 weeks on her birthday. She had a bit of an infection which has subsided and is still trying to figure out how to eat on her own. Once she masters the art of sucking, swallowing, and breathing at the same time...she'll get to come home. We expect that in the next few days. She maintains her temp on her own and hasn't had to be on a ventilator or anything...so as far as preemies are concerned...she is doing really well. And at 6lbs 1oz, she is a monster compared to the other babies in the ICU. And of course she is super cute. All parents think they're babies are adorable...but mine really is. I'll post pics soon! I just wanted to say hi and let you all know what was going on with us. My poor pups havent been able to figure things out and my parents have been a real huge help keeping them at our home. I'll be very excited to see how they react to her arrival at home! |

| Congratulations and Welcome little Lainey!
My oldest daughter's middle name is Elaine. I really like the name.
My youngest daughter was born at 36 weeks also, by Emergency C-section. She had problems with an under- developed kidney and infections that kept coming/going for the first few months that had us in/out of the hospital and even making the trek up to Birmingham to the Children's Hospital. Everything turned out fine though ... she is a beautiful little girl and her kidneys work just fine and are completely normal. I'm sure Lainey will be fine too.
Try to get some rest! You will need your strength when she does come home.
Congratulations again and Best Wishes! _________________ Breeder & Co-Owner: Champion Downhome Family Tradition -- The Top-Winning Harrier in Breed History 2008 Harrier Club of America National Specialty Winner

| Thanks all. She's home finally. She was released last Wednesday after proving she would eat consistently from a bottle. Now she sucks down almost the whole bottle. LOL. I have been busy doing the feedings every 3 hours and trying to get caught up on some sleep. Pretty hard to do when you have to wake up every few hours.
I have had my family here in and out since I went into the hospital. It's been a blessing but has had its ups and downs. On Friday, my sister and cousin left for the store and after feeding Guns and Bell, I let them out. I laid down for a bit of rest only to have my nephew wake me up asking me if they were in my room. It seems as tho my sis and cuz went out the gate and failed to make sure it was latched. Guns and Bell escaped! I looked up and down the street, all through the house and backyard. Finally, we loaded up and started driving the streets in the neighborhood. I was totally freaked out. Just what I needed...more stress. We found them a few streets away. They were hanging out at this house and the owner said he gave them some water and they had been going in and out and playin with his dog. They were panting and sooo hot. When I opened the door...they jumped right in...a first for Bell since normally you have to lift her in.
So lots going on around here...very stressful week or so. I hope now things will calm down. The baby is home and the family is gone. |

| Here are some pics of Lainey. She's doing great and has gained 10 oz over her original birth weight in 2 weeks after losing a few while in the NICU.

| I love the hair too...She looks like a porcipine (sp) after you wash her hair. It's so funny....looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket. |

| Thanks guys. I'm trying to get online every day or so to keep up with the outside world. These few first days have been hard with the sleepless nights. Now I know why parents of new babies look like zombies. LoL. |
