Any Ideas ?

Anyone care to guess what this Rock is ? I broke off a small piece and off came slivers of Crystal, Specs of Gold and some purpleish colored rock specs. Here are a few pics :

In this pic, you'll see thet purple color and some gold specs (one spot in the lower right is pretty lrg)

Small Gold specs in a layer of white colored rock, surrounded by the purple/black colored rock.

These are the bits I got from it, when I broke apart a smaller piece. Some slivers of Crystal , specs of Gold and slivers of the purpleish colored rock.

Any clues ?

Honestly, I have no clue. In the first pic it almost looks like a dirty clam or oyster, lol. In another it looks like charcoal with bits of something clear in it.

My step brother might know, but getting in touch with him lately is like pulling teeth.

It looks to me to be some kind of volcanic glass. Which also would explain the specs of color in it. I imagine that other peices of rock can be incorporated in volcanic glass as it cools. The third photo I don't know. But the first two really look like that.

Ok, found out what it is. I contacted a Rock and Mineral Collecter and Dealer, he's 99.99% sure it's Covellite.
